Rain or shine: art is everywhere!

Every year, Carl Cherry Center for the Arts puts on the Thinking Out Loud Regional Art Competition. Rain or shine, we always look forward to seeing the work of young artists and connecting with arts educators in our local area. Congratulations to our YACsters for showcasing your beautiful pieces of art!

Special congratulations to YACsters Casey and Katelynn for earning honorable mention on their pieces!

We took a trip to Frog Pond Wetland Preserve on Saturday and explored the area with Michael Hogan as he talked to us about the ecosystem and species in this area. We planned to field sketch but the rain came pouring down—that didn’t stop us from walking, observing, and gathering reference photos!

Thank you so much to Michael and California Arts & Sciences Institute for the field trip! CASI has an upcoming student art contest & exhibit opening in August at the Sunset Center featuring flora and fauna through different mediums. We got to see the preserve in a different light and we can’t wait to use that as inspiration for our art pieces!
