YAC Mentors & Artist friends at Champions of the Arts

This past weekend was an exciting one for some of our mentors and long-time friends of YAC, as they attended Champions of the Arts. For the past 2 years, the event has been virtual, so it was exciting to attend in person this year!

This is the biggest event to raise money for all the work that Arts Council for Monterey County (Arts4MC) does for artists and for the schools. Long time Friends of YAC Juan Sanchez (Palenke founder/director) and Steven Whyte (world class sculptor) were honored. The arts community here is well connected, as these two have both donated time and talent to YAC at LiveArt, and Juan's son, Esteban, was also a YACster. In 2009, YAC was a Champion Nonprofits, and it is always great to attend this event and support everything that ARts4MC is doing.

Meg and Marcia got to sit at Juan’s table with his family, board member, and old friend JT. Andrew and Germain were at one of Steven’s tables. Paul was painting in the lobby the entire time, working on a piece that was auctioned off!

It was wonderful seeing old friends and colleagues in the nonprofit arts here, we are grateful to be part of a community of people supporting and participating in the arts.

(Meg brought a minion which seems to be quite entertaining in the photos!)
