Field Sketching Workshop with Sami Chang

Sami Chang shares her perspective as a science illustrator with our YACsters! In the studio, students got a glimpse of science illustration as a career and an introduction into field sketching/nature journaling. Sami covered the basics of sketching things seen in nature accurately and precisely and went over quick field sketching techniques for when there are not hours to spend on an illustration. After learning about some basics in the studio, we went to do our own sketches at gardens at Cooper Molera and the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail. This workshop was in collaboration with The Western Flyer Foundation’s Community Journal Project.
