Congratulations to Teachers

Artwork by YAC alumni Elizabeth Ronley and Logan Parsons

In recognition of a new start of the school year, we wanted to take a moment to congratulate our very own YACalum teachers -  Elisabeth Donley and Logan Parsons.Logan Parsons, who previously taught at the CSUMB Science Illustration Program, is currently starting her second year as an art teacher at York School in Monterey. She teaches Foundations Art, Digital Imagery, and Advanced 2D Art. “If I see one of my students has an artistic inclination I tell them about YAC and how much it influenced who I am today and my decision to become an artist. I truly believe you need that community for support and inspiration. So far a few of them have applied and are now YACsters!” To see some of Logan’s exquisite freelance illustration work, visit her website at www.parsonsillustration.comElisabeth Donley is the new art teacher at Hillcrest School in Oakland and is thrilled to be working with K-8th grade students. Elisabeth has been working in extended learning settings since 2008 as an after school art teacher, then director of after school at the JCC East Bay, and now as director of Camp Galileo at the Fremont Ardenwood location. "YAC long ago taught me the importance of art and education as a source of critical thinking, foundational sense of self, and community creation. It is a life-long dream come to fruition to now be an art teacher at a public school!" Elisabeth maintains her studio practice, and you can view her nocturnes, ink paintings, and student art samples at www.elisabethronley.com
