Meet Lizzy

YACster Lizzy

Lizzy, a 16-year-old Junior at Pacific Grove High School, has been a member of YAC fora year and a half and loves being part of such a “colorful, happy, creative” community.Being a YACster helps her to better recognize how diverse the world is – how unique andyet the same people are.Lizzy, who describes herself as a thoughtful young creative, first remembers loving artwhen as a preschooler she painted an outline of herself on butcher paper and was excitedto display it as she graduated to kindergarten. She spends a lot of time drawing, eitherdoodling on her notes or in a proper sketchbook, and is inspired by her family, natureand by artists that she finds on the Internet. People who have done impressive, importantwork with their life, such as Nelson Mandela and Albert Einstein, specifically inspire her.Her work often focuses on people because they are “diverse, interesting and weird” andLizzy was most proud of her art when she won a sculpture competition wherein her waxpiece was made into a bronze copy. In addition to improving the mediums she alreadyworks in, Lizzy desires to expand her subject matter as well as explore using oil. With additional interests in science and history, Lizzy is also a passionate reader. Inten years she would like to be a successful adult – which means graduating college andworking towards a career doing something both productive and entertaining. In themeantime, she will continue to find inspiration from the work and talent of her peers atYAC.See Lizzy’s work here: www.anecessaryingredientinliving.tumblr.com
