Hello, my name is Kendall Conlin. One of the pieces I created titled “On that Halloween” is inspired by a song by my favorite band Wallows. The song talks about growing up and maturing. I think this is exactly what’s happening in my art, when I look back at old pieces I can see a very clear progression and that excites me for what the future entails. I can’t wait to see where my art will grow from this point on. My second piece is inspired by the thought of yourself always judging your own every move. A song that explains this well the way I perceive it is “Treacherous Doctor” by Wallows. A lyric that really resonates is “Can you replace my eyes for yours? See what I really look like” to me this means really allowing yourself to see who you really are and see past any judgements. I wanted this piece to represent that with the various eyes belonging to different insecurities of yourself. Overall, I love getting inspiration from songs and the world around me. <3
