Iphigenia Wilder
any/none

Hi, I’m Iphie.

I am a wacky, 15-year-old artist and aspiring writer from Carmel Valley, and also a 2nd year student at Monterey Peninsula College. My ambition is to become a full-time graphic novelist after graduating from MPC in 2024, then attending the Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont for two years.

As an artist, I look at creating art not just from a visual perspective, but also with a story in mind. Much of the inspiration for my artwork comes from the narratives I write and the worlds I create. Settings, beings, and ideas appear in my artwork from a place nobody but me has seen. I think the work I created for this show is the very beginning of my art and storytelling sensibilities blending together, to create something that is more than just visual; something that contains the ghost of my story, and your story- but is ambiguous and abstract enough to have no clear interpretation.

Like I said before, I’m a wacky person with crazy plans, ambitions, and ideas. Art is useful for navigating and expressing these ideas, and it’s also something I enjoy doing more than anything else. I want to rock the art boat a little by bringing the wild and weird into the ordinary world, as my name suggests. YAC goes above and beyond with helping me and a community of so many other youth artists achieve self-expression, reflection, and experimentation in art. Thanks to all the people who make this possible! I hope you enjoy the show ⚘
