Hello! My name is Kendall and i’ve been a YACster for two years now! YAC has always been there for me no matter how busy my schedule may be. It’s a safe space to relax and everyone is so nice! For this show I decided to focus on 3D pieces. Each one is in a different way. First I have my Pride Mobile, it’s inspired by the gay flag and how that is apart of my identity. The second piece, “I cry and throw things” is based off a joke I made with a friend at YAC, that phrase inspired me to make a piece where it looks like objects from all around YAC were thrown on a canvas. The final artwork, Smile like you mean it, is a ceramic piece I created with the intention of representing one of my favorite songs: “Smile like you mean it” by The Killers. This is why the face is seen smiling. Overall I really enjoyed creating these 3D pieces and I hope you enjoy them as well! :)
