Raven Cook

Hello! I’m Raven Cook, currently 21 and I have been at YAC since October 2015. I have a dog, Anubis, who I love very much and is my main companion when I paint.

Lately I’ve been painting slower and putting more intention and thought behind my work. These three pieces are a part of a mini series about the subconscious mind, dreams and following your intuition.

“Radiance” is a self portrait resin painting. This piece is about when your mind starts to drift into a dream and that light, fluttering energy you feel all around you as you fall deeper into your subconscious mind.

“Star Gazer” is a painting inspired by the work of Anges Pelton who was a transcendentalist painter. Anges’ was a visionary symbolist who depicted the spiritual reality she experienced in moments of meditative stillness. This painting is about trusting your intuition and the journey ahead.

“Spirit Bear” is a painting of a bear that visits me in my dreams, usually when I’m unsure or questioning something in the waking world. The bear’s gaze brings me comfort and feels like a hug from an old friend when I see her in a dream.

Thank you for supporting YAC, my yacster peers and I.
