A reference to a scene in the movie “Call me by your name”.

My inspiration for this piece was the book and movie “Call me by your name”. This movie is very personal to me and i love it very deeply. It has changed my perspective about love and relationships and I would recommend it to anyone who likes movies. My inspiration for my art as a whole is renaissance and religious art. I take a lot of inspiration from those because I love the style of that type of art.

The simple act of putting pen to paper becomes an intimate dialogue, a tangible expression of feelings that often remain unsaid in everyday life. drawing these letters allowed me to reflect on the ways in which language shapes our relationships and our inner worlds.

  • Consumed

    by Marissa Rodriguez

    Medium: Acrylic, Gouache, Pastel
    Size: 20 x 10 in
    NFS

My piece was inspired by my brother, this past year he was in a very toxic relationship. Me and my family all saw how it effected him and the way it changed his behavior. I remember how frustrated I would get with him because she would treat him terribly and he would always defend it. Now that’s he's out of this relationship he realizes how wrong she was to do that to him. My piece is to show that love can be consuming, and it’s important to stick by your boundaries.

  • 500 Miles

    by Raven Cook

    Medium: Acrylic

    Socks holding hands ;)

I create work that reflects my personal life. Exploring topics of friendship, love, loss and nostalgia.

This piece is a moment captured of my partner (Luke) and I’s socks holding hands, titled after the song, ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ by the Proclaimers because yes, I would walk 500 miles for him and I would walk 500 more just to be the man that walked 1000 miles to fall down at his (Luke’s) door.

  • Lovecraft's Ancient Earth

    by Nico Bala

    Medium: Digital Print poster
    Size: 11 x 14 in
    $45

I'm inspired by the weird and strange, works of the early century trying to tackle concepts that were just starting anew as the raw creativity it was. Adapting that very creativity out of their words is a passion i love, simple or complex descriptions ill take to heart and go on to add flare or extra color to bring it to life.

  • Horsell common - circa 1897

  • Lovers embrace

    by Ryan Villasenor

    Medium: Acrylic
    Size: 36 x 48 in
    NFS

For my first show at YAC, I have done this somewhat valentines inspired piece of lovers embracing for the valentines show as a sort of, formal entrance to the YAC community. Although this work is in acrylic, I take a lot more inspiration for old oil painters and impressionism, remaining loose in colour and form to obtain my desired piece.

  • Pomegranate and Apricot

    by Sasha Miotke

    Medium: Acrylic
    Size: 18 x 14 in
    NFS

A piece based off a poem

This piece is inspired by a poem that my partner wrote for me. Visual story telling is incredibly important to me because it helps people see something that they can't, and it shows the creativity of humans

  • Mixed emotions

    by Sofia Escobar

    Medium: Graphite
    Size: 9 x 12 in
    $50

Hi, my name is Sofia Escobar. I am 14 years old and this is my first year at YAC! I mainly work with acrylic, or gouache paint and graphite pencils with some colored pencils. through YAC I am hoping to branch out into new things. I like to include elements of death and life in my work and I am fascinated by the contrast of life and death in my work. I also love using hands and eyes in my my work. I am greatly inspired my black and white illustration and bold, contrasting colors in clothes. Graphic design is also something I love to scroll through for inspiration. I am excited that YAC will be able to help me with my artistic journey in the years to come.

Lovers Quarrel

by Margaux Marilyn Tybus Casales

Poem for my partner who made a painting and I made a poem for said painting. It’s about my love for him.

Hi, my name is Margaux and I am a Musician, Poet, and sometimes visual artist (it’s rare but it happens!) I was always drawn to music as a form of expression since I was a young kid and have it bring out my creative side. I produce music on my own time and love to play guitar, piano, and whatever other instruments I can get my hands on. Music is a large part of my daily life and has saved my own life more times than I can count. Only recently have I been using poetry to bring out my most inner thoughts and voice my opinions and emotional processes. It has helped me navigate mental health obstacles and outside experiences. By putting thoughts into words and then onto paper has helped me understand myself better than I could ever freaking imagine. I love to mix the process of my poetry and music into one giving my poems a cadence and rhythm to follow. If you get the chance you might catch me doodling or making a comic here and there (SHHH don’t let them know I make visual art…). I hope you enjoy my silly little thoughts as much as I may! Have fun!
