Meet Esteban

YACster Esteban

Esteban

Esteban, a 19 year old Sophomore at Monterey Peninsula College, has been a YACster for 3 ½ years. A passionate, driven, perfectionist, Esteban first discovered his love of art when docents would arrive into his elementary school with activities that were a welcome break from the standard school subjects. His finds YAC, and all of the different mediums explored and perspectives addressed at YAC, to be bold, unique and most importantly, tranquil. He has explored all mediums of art and is most attracted to spray paint and urban graffiti. When he was living with his family in Malaga, Spain he was introduced to the urban art scene and has continued to be inspired by Shepard Fairey and Mega, owner of Black Scale – a clothing brand out of San Francisco. In fact, he was deeply honored that after meeting Mega and showing him his portfolio, he was immediately offered an internship in Los Angeles.Esteban’s work, self-described, as “colorful, organized and aggressive” often focuses on injustice. He has portrayed, in an effort to raise awareness, dictators and world leaders who have oppressed their own people. In addition to art, Esteban is very involved in music, as he is a skilled trumpet player, and is also an athlete. He hopes to transfer to a four-year college, go on to achieve an MBA and paint on extra large surfaces with a fire extinguisher. He would love to one day have his designs on a clothing line and open a gallery/shop in an urban city.
